POST COVID-19 TRAVEL TRENDS

The National Observatory of Outbound Tourism (ObservaTUR) has published the study “How will the new national traveler be in the new post-COVID-19 scenario”.

According to ObservaTUR,  From now on, travelers will modify some of their behavior patterns in their movements in the so-called 'new normal'. The association points out 9 major trends in the post COVID-19 scenario:

  1. Travelers, and the sector as a whole, will have to learn to live with the new social practices and the new new protocols derived from the health crisis

  2. In the new normality, destinations with guarantees will be prioritized; it is important to carry out an exercise of transparency and communication to project the new reality of these destinations

  3. Reservations are imposed with new conditions, more flexible and without cancellation fees.

  4. Travelers will seek greater protection and insurance will take on a greater role.

  5. In the first instance, nationals will practice proximity tourism, in all its aspects (cultural, gastronomic ...), with the rise of non-overcrowded experiences.

  6. The last to recover, for the doubts that still persist, will be long-distance tourism.

  7. We will have to pay special attention to young people, who will probably be the first to return to travel.

  8. The implementation registered by online videoconferencing platforms, and the global health situation, could delay the recovery of 'business travel'.

  9. There are doubts that our country, abroad, is seen as a "safe destination"
